My ELLIPSE is rusting – why?
ELLIPSE is made of high-quality Corten steel, which develops a characteristic patina – a protective rust layer – over time.
This natural process makes ELLIPSE particularly durable and gives each piece a distinctive, individual appearance. At first, ELLIPSE comes with a mill scale (matte black) that gradually wears off, allowing the elegant rust patina to form.
It takes about 1.5 to 2 years for the patina to develop evenly. To speed up the natural rusting process, you can use special rust accelerators.
Please note:
Corten steel may cause temporary discoloration that evens out and re-rusts over time. It’s also normal for small rust particles to detach and for the rust to “bleed” slightly, as the material continuously reacts. We therefore recommend not placing Corten products on delicate or high-quality surfaces, such as porcelain stoneware or premium stone floors.
