What should I know about Corten steel?

What should I know about Corten steel?

Corten steel develops a distinctive patina over time – a constant evolution that makes each product unique. This rust layer provides lasting protection, a unique look, and long-term durability.

Good to know:

Corten steel may show temporary discoloration that fades as the surface naturally re-rusts. It’s normal for small rust particles to detach, creating the so-called “rust bleeding” effect – Corten steel is continuously working. We recommend not placing Corten products on sensitive or high-end tile or stone surfaces.

By the way:

For transport and storage, Corten steel is coated with a temporary protective layer that wears off with use. Depending on how often and under which conditions you use fire bowls like TRIPLE, BEER BOX, CRATE, or ELLIPSE, it may take 1.5 to 2 years for the patina to fully develop. To speed up the process, products such as “Corten Plus” are available in specialized stores.

You can find more details in the CORTEN information sheet.
