How do I best clean the PLANCHA?

After grilling, use a spatula to remove any food or grease from your still-warm PLANCHA, pushing the residues toward the center or the embers. A suitable spatula is available here: SCRAPER. For stubborn residues, a splash of cold water or an ice cube on the surface helps with loosening grease. Allow the PLANCHA to cool down before applying a thin layer of heat-resistant cooking oil*. With every use, a beautiful grill plate patina develops – just like on a cast iron pan. Alternatively, clean the PLANCHA with warm water and mild dish soap. Avoid steel wool or abrasive cleaners; soft, lint-free cloths are ideal. For intensive cleaning, apply a foam-based grill or oven cleaner and let it work overnight—covered with cling film to prevent drying out. Afterwards, rinse well, dry thoroughly, and reapply a light coating of oil*, finishing with a cotton cloth to remove any excess. Now your PLANCHA is perfectly prepared for the next BBQ. Do not use olive oil – it’s not suitable for this maintenance.
